Elf Strings and Mushroom Notes

Appreciators of music, nature, and high fashion.

A thin, graceful-looking man stands before you, who would appear human if not for his pointed ears.

Elves are long-lived creatures with delicate and often-pointed features, who for the most part appear similar to humans. Most aesthetic differences are minimal, with the exception of their ears. As a group, they often appreciate both nature and the arcane arts, and strive to bring a measure of beauty to any of their works. Historical evidence suggests that elves once built great civilizations across Laurasia, the ruins of which are scattered about to this day; currently, they are much fewer in number than humans and are generally integrated into human society. As a result, some elves interbreed with humans; the children of such unions are half-elves.

Elves have a well-known historical animosity with orcs, and many of the ancient ruins and items that make up their legacy reflect this hatred. For example, their watchtowers have particularly strong magical wards against the entry of those with orc blood, and an orcbane shortbow was found within the Elven Archives.

Alsea[]

The elves of Alsea have been segregated from the rest of Laurasian civilization for centuries, and as such have had little contact with people and races other then their own. They have known nothing but peace for generations, which in their case is exceptionally long, and so their culture is one of leisure and harmony; despite this, a group of elite warriors known as the Bladesingers still train their skills here. The three elders who act as the political heads have lived longer then anyone else in the city can even remember, and predate even the city itself.

Drow[]

Drow, the black-skinned, white-haired cousins of elves, live in large, relatively advanced cities in the Underdark. They look on other races with deep disdain, and further draw strict class and gender divides within their own kind; they generally worship the spider-goddess Lolth and her minions, and are generally more aggressive, segregatory and bloodthirsty than surface elves in general. In western Laurasia in particular, the drow metropolis of Char Nassed can be found.

Drow have also been seen at the Jungle Gem Mine and the Serpent's Ziggurat, in both cases as slaves themselves. These drow apparently come from a village somewhere in the Primeval Jungle.
